Why we made it
Drilling has its place. It gets a word ready for Friday's dictation. On its own, it rarely makes a child pick up Chinese when nobody is asking.
We think a child needs their own reason to read: a mystery, heroes who show bravery, courage and wisdom, and a story they want to finish, all built around the key characters in the Primary school syllabus. They keep going because they want to know what happens, and the characters come round again along the way.
That is our belief: a child who chooses to read Chinese will go further than one who is made to.
